Growing indoor is no easy task. With ventilation and lighting issues, its always a tricky task setting up your first grow. Growing indoor on a large scale can obviously complicate matters. We going to give you some basic – Need to knows, before you begin redoing your spare room.
Firstly – VENTILATION
Growing marijuana indoors is no different from outdoors, your plants still need the same primary nutrients. The difference is, you have that all available naturally outside, recreating this effect in a room can be somewhat difficult, especially when it comes to ventilation of the room.
If a room does not have the right fans and extraction process, your plants will not make it. Plants need a certain amount of carbon and oxygen to grow to their full potential, trying to recreate the outside elements indoors can be difficult if you’re unable to ventilate the room effectively. Ensure your room is properly ventilated and at the right temperature for each stage of growing.
The ideal temp for indoor growing is – vegetative 20-30′ – Flowering 18-26′. Failing to ensure your plants receive the right amount of air will result in lots of complications, first and for most being mould on your bud and pests, otherwise over all health of the plant can be compromised if this in not done right.
Lights – SUN
The lights are there to try replicate the different light spectrums in the sun. We have obviously not got them all in lighting we have available to us, but this is consistently improving. HPS lights still seem to lead the pack, with most growers making use of these lights for their rooms. These are great and do the job, but they are VERY expensive to run. So expect your electricity bill to increase a lot should you decide to use HPS lights. HPS lights also let off a lot of heat, so your temperature and ventilation needs to be monitored closely.
LED lights are relatively new to the growers market, with suppliers now manufacturing lights with specified light rays and colours, along with times on each; it’s a no brainer that this is a great choice in lighting. While LED cost more to purchase, running costs are almost cut in half. LED lights are also known to have a longer life span, so in the end they cost less overall to maintain and run. LED produces significantly less heat, so your room’s temperature is more predictable and stable.
Nutrients
Weather you grow outside or inside, plants always need the same elements to grow and survive. This might vary in quantities and times as you move between the two. Indoor growing has been known to require more nutrients, as you are recreating the natural elements, you won’t get it spot on. Your nutrients will help with the parts your room is unable to fully replicate. Ensuring your nutrient mix works well for your grow room set up is essential in growing quality marijuana. This area of indoor growing can be tricky. We suggest you make use of the nutrient feeding guide on your nutrient bottles, that should give you a starting point. Don’t be afraid to experiment, but ensure you research before just going all in. Nutrients can cause more harm than good if not utilized correctly.
If you are considering growing indoors, these are the 3 main things you will need to consider. They are the 3 main factors your trying to replicate inside your room. Do you have a grow room? Tell us about your set up and what you learnt from your experience?
